New Recruits

We are currently looking for: Translators (Jp->Eng), Translation Checkers.
The other positions are mostly filled, so they aren’t in an emergency recruitment situation… Anyway, on to the different positions.

• Translators

Must be fluent in Jpn->Eng. A test might be provided so we can measure your skills. No fansubbing experience required.

• Translation Checkers

Must be skilled and fluent in the language you’re checking. A test might be provided so we can measure your skills. You will be correcting/changing the Translator’s work if needed.

• Editors

Must be able to spot grammar and mistakes very well. Must be fluent in English and please know what you’re doing. Be able to check for spelling errors as well as to rephrase sentences. Knowing at least a little Japanese to spot bad sounding sentences would really help us out as well.

• Timers

Must be able to time and fine time the scripts. We’d prefer experienced people on this position, but if we have to, we can teach you from scratch. Must be able to time the sentences so that they are readable. We’re trying to make sure that the fans have fun and enjoy the episodes will also be able to read the subtitles.

• Typesetters

Must know how to select good fonts and styles for any show that’s being done. Experienced people preferred. Change size, shape, and colors if necessary. We would like our subs to look nice and fit the series if possible. That means sign typesetting as well. ^_^

• Quality Checkers
  

We really need Quality Checkers to check our scripts before they are released to the public. Just like an editor, a good knowledge of the English language is a requirement. You should also to be able to spot if the lines, typesetting, audio, video (a.k.a. encoding) are done correctly. The more Japanese you know, the better. If the translator missed a word from the dialogue, you’re the final person responsible in correcting it. You’ll be the final line in checking the script, so a good eye for details is very important.
We strive for releasing everything in the best quality possible.

• Encoders

Now if you don’t know what you’re doing, it would probably be best to ignore this postion. Must be able to encode our logo, karaoke, subs, typesetting (if needed) into h264 and XviD format. Must know how to use AviSynth scripts and place filters in there if needed. Resizing might come as well if we choose to change resolution. Experience is a must. There are also a lot of excellent guides on how to encode on the internet, if you want to self-study (doom9.net).

• Distro

You will help in the distribution of our releases through Bittorrent, XDCC bot, direct download or by other means. Fast upload connection speed is a plus.

• Raw Provider

Provide us with high quality raws if you can. If you can’t do that, just try to make them decent enough to work with. We’ll be happy with that.
Fast upload connection speed is a plus, since distribution will be necessary in a smaller scale.
