Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 01 BD out!!

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes 01 BD out!!

Surprise! Didn’t expect this one, huh? Well, we’ve finally moved on to the blu-rays after some raw delays. That said, we see that there are 3 live-action special clips, one of them an HD cosplay sing&dance video, other two are SD resolution concert bonuses. We would like to ask people’s opinion on these; being as the same position as like a commentary audio track in other shows, should we leave them unsubbed? They’re just basically songs. Or we can just choose a font and slap on the english and romaji if preferred (no karaoke, too much time needed). Any suggestions are welcome.

Another note from our encoder: as these episodes in full HD are extremely hard to compress (test encodes with decent quality averaging 2.6GB alone), we have decided to drop 1080p for this show and leave it to any other groups who would like to do them instead for people who like their insane quality/filesizes. Apologies to anyone who had wanted them from us. We will still however do 720p and xvids, as per 11eyes style. 1080p out once BF3000 gets them encoded.

No NCED/NCOP came with the disc as well, unfortunately. Possibly comes on one of the later discs. We’ll release them as separate files if they get included.

Disc 2: February 25th

460 MB is a bit big… are there any particular quality improvements over the TV broadcast?

PS: I wouldn’t know why anyone would do 1080p encodes of anime, because barely anything is produced over 720p. Why the hell encode upscales?

Compared to the TV broadcast, the BD version has a much better video quality, there is no scrolling warning message at the bottom of the screen right before the OP, has updated karaoke (only TV ep12 had the updated karaoke, due to encoding time constraints), and animation errors will be corrected (like http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/586/kiteseekerswasurenaitan.jpg).

yes, on top of what Z says, there are also no more annoying sponsor splash screens (but buy the BD’s folks, seriously 😛 get second season with more Twenty manservice), on top with some redrawn scenes (hopefully) and also the extra specials we’re gonna include at some point (still waiting on the opinions, people).

As for the actual encodes, the BDs themselves are progressive, so it would actually look nice at 1080p (for those who want them, anyways) regardless of what resolution they were animated in. Our encoder himself said that he was aiming for around the 400MB range max for 720p, but it’s just so hard to compress the details and still make it a decent BD rip, thus the extra size. At least it’s better than the 700mb+ that other groups release, right?

      Actually it’s not big.
It is quite small compare to another MH01 BD releases. The second smallest is 1.23Gb 😉
As for quality, see for youself.

      >BD release
      >400MB is a bit big

Seriously? 400MB is pretty damn small for a well encoded BD rip.

As for the extras I’m fine with them staying as raws but then again I’m not one of those faggots who sings along. Maybe put some subs on it for the sake of completion and if it doesn’t take long but otherwise I’d say focus your efforts elsewhere.
