Umi Monogatari DVD 1 released!

Umi Monogatari DVD 1 released!

As you can see, we have started on the dvds of umi monogatari. Too bad there isn’t any BDs for this yet.

Now for a Q & A:
Q: Why is it 400p?
A; Ask the encoder. Because we like 400p.
Q: Why is it so small?
A: Ask the encoder. Because we like small.
Q: Is it lacking bitrate?
A: You are just too used to bloated bitrates.
Q: Why is there no xvid?
A: It is pointless to do it.

And without further ado, the links!

    Why is it so small?
-The encoder is cheap, can’t afford to make files bigger.
Take a look at Isekai no Seikishi, small filesize but the quality is bad when the show can actually be better in quality.

    • Dansolo says:

You have no idea what you’re talking about. I am making the files as small as they can be without wasting quality. Both Isekai and Umi come from extremely blurry sources. You can go ahead and download 500MB 720p files from other groups, but those groups are the ones with cheap encoding. Just throw bitrate at it? Please.

I have a feeling you’re using a cheap monitor that’s not calibrated at all, has an extremely high average deltaE value, especially in the darks, which is causing things to look like crap to you when they look just fine.

The ONLY bad thing about these encodes is that it’s incredibly difficult to sharpen the video enough while not oversharpening, so they are blurry, though not as blurry as the source material.

Next time you want to comment on encodes, try to know something about encoding.

Does the dvd 1 have some short special?

    Why is it only 400p?
Even the Chinese have 480p: http://www.nyaatorrents.org/?page=torrentinfo&tid=189829&showfiles=1

why they are small in size:

    — this show does not require high bitrate since its not really an high motion picture… you can only see this one is a few chit chats… this is not even a action anime anyway.

    — its not HD.. so who cares.

    — were using h264 codec here… more intelligent for handling high quality videos in smaller size.

  6. LOLencoder says:

    Q: Why is it 400p?
A: Because the encoder is so stupid he doesn’t even know about anamorphic encoding, instead he hard resizes the video, losing detail.

    • LOLencoder says:

Q: Why is it so small?
A: Because the video has already lost some detail, and as such, bitrate wasn’t needed to keep the details that were lost.

      • Dansolo says:

No, the video has not lost detail over the source. The DVD does not have detail that resolves to anywhere NEAR 480p and is more blurry than my encode. Anamorphic encoding has pros and cons. I am going for compatibility here. And it’s not necessary on this show, anyway.

Feel free to troll someone else, because I don’t need to prove that I am a better encoder than you. It is how it is.

Why did you remove the batch file to put DVD episode 1? Could you please put it back up, or if you already have point me in it’s direction.

    • Webbmaster62 says:

I removed the tv links cause they were from anirena which is gone for now. So you wouldn’t have been able to access the links unless they had other trackers in them anyways. GIve me some time, I’m resetting our old files and links. You can still grab all our releases we ever done on IRC.

loldorama 😀 Dansolo, just shove off all these butthurt trolls, the encode looks fine. I’d like to see someone else here get an actual iso of the dvd, encode it themselves, post their settings here, and paste on a screenshot comparison website. Until then, all you whiners hold absolutely no ground in complaints ^_^

kissed up from a guy who owns a small ass mointor to even tell a difference.

      • Webbmaster62 says:

Ano either download it and upscaled it yourself since your superior in the encoding ways, or not and quit trolling already. Your not affecting us whatever you decide to do. I’ve also seem to have wasted my time replying to this myself.

      • MMC says:

no encode? no comparison? lol then in one ear out the other. have to say it’s quite amusing reading such vain comments on my 42″ fullhd plasma 😀

          How about this?

          http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/23736

As you can see, the Chinese encode (or whatever they are) is clearly superior. Look how blurry Wasurenai is in comparison, and the details that got killed at those… underwater plant things.

Also the Chinese encode is 480p (http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/23734) and seems to be completely softsubbed.

          • Webbmaster62 says:

You can’t compare an encode with just one frame. Plus, we told you the source we got these from were really blurry. We would have to buy the DVDs themselves to get better quality. Which we are not doing. Either way, like I said earlier, get it and be happy, or move on.

          • Dansolo says:

That’s not a lack of resolution, and I’m not running smoothers on this video, and it’s also not from lack of bitrate.

The DVDs are just garbage. The chroma is very oversmoothed in them and bleeds past edges and stuff, too. Not my fault, and something VERY difficult to fix on my end.

Watch it or don’t watch it. I don’t really care. I don’t even watch this show myself.
